So doTERRA’s Clary SageNOT my favorite smell in the world but I have Endometriosis so whatcha going to do?

My condition with Endometriosis is a little different than most and while I have searched I can’t find enough information to really satisfy my desire to know more about it.

I believe that I have a mild case compared to most. I ended up having to have a C-Section after my first pregnancy. When my, OH SO lovely, cycle came back a year later, my scar would inflame each month, it was a nightmare and super painful!

According to the OB I was seeing at the time, some of my uterine cells decided they wanted to stay and make camp in the scar and bred like crazy rabbits (I’m so glad…) I had one surgery to get rid of them but the surgery wasn’t what you would call successful. Only then did I find out that it is nearly impossible to get all the tissue cleared out unless you resort to extreme measures and get a hysterectomy.

Anyways I am not quite ready to rip out my whole system just yet so I need something for the swelling and pain when the Endometriosis starts knocking.

Enter Clary sage!

Every morning I apply doTerra’s Clary Sage mix to the scar area where the inflammation usually occurs. The mix isn’t fancy just Clary Sage with fractionated coconut oil. I use a spray bottle and dilute it with the coconut oil, and add about 10 to 12 drops of Clary Sage into the bottle. Always give it a shake before each use.

In “Essential Life” it suggests taking Clary Sage internally whether by using capsules or adding a few drops to a drink like water, juice or tea. The other option is what I do, applying topically to the abdomen to help with the symptoms.

Other uses:

Postpartum depression, low milk supply, hot flashes (combine with Peppermint). This is the woman’s oil!! If you want more info you can check out doterra.com. Clary sage is safe for aromatic, internal, and topical use. Safe for NEAT application (undiluted) but caution should be used if you are in the early stages of pregnancy. Remember always discuss your options with your doctor.

Something to think about…

Dilution… I know I talk about this A LOT but…

This particular oil is safe for NEAT application, without dilution. On the other hand there are perks to diluting anyway.

The benefit to diluting is that you can make the oils last without diminishing the oils fragrance or properties as well as increasing topical oil distribution (doterra.com). Oils applied undiluted can evaporate too quickly before it is properly absorbed therefore you could potentially diminish the benefits. Just a tidbit for you I use this brand of carrier oil. It’s great because it comes with a pump and a squirt lid.

I am partial to putting my essential oil/carrier oil mixture in a roll-on bottle like this one or a spray bottle like this. Dilute with fractionated coconut oil, see dilution chart. Fractionated coconut oil is a great carrier oil it hydrates the skin, odorless, colorless and best of all doesn’t leave behind that greasy feeling because who likes that? Not this lady!

Keep in mind that it is the frequency of your use in small doses that maximize your results not and I repeat NOT quantity. Increases the quantity over a period of time can actually have harmful side effects instead of helping. Remember too much of a good thing can have a turn for the worse.

Using the oil regularly increases its potency, essential oils were not designed for a “take it once and BAM! you are cured” model. If you have chronic headaches, adding the corresponding oils to your regime can keep them away. Arthritis? Daily use can significantly reduce the pain.
