Honestly, I struggle with being calm at times, I have struggled with depression, still deal with anxiety especially around social settings.

Not something I like to admit, I am pretty good at hiding these issues to most except my husband. He has seen the awesome, the crazy, and downtrodden. I do feel bad for him at times because I know he feels helpless to help and he wants so badly to take the pain away.

The reason I am writing about it now is because I know I am not the only one dealing nor do I suffer as badly as others. I feel we all just want to be happy, to enjoy the world around us and feel grounded but sometimes there is this ugly dark monster that catches us when we least suspect it too.

And when we think we have a handle on it, it rears its massive head and reminds us the burden we have to bear, it can be overwhelming especially when we feel like there is no escape.

There is hope

I am afraid I can’t offer a miracle, I wish I could. I still struggle at times with thoughts of low self-esteem, self-image and an overall feeling of worthlessness. But I can offer something that can help. And the bonus is that it doesn’t cost thousands of dollars or have nasty side effects. That brings us to doTERRA’s Balance Grounding Blend.

The oils used to make Balance were selected for their wonderful ability to ease anxiety and help us find some grounding. It just makes you feel good all over! When I am having a particularly hard day, I find a quiet place, even if it’s just the bathroom or the laundry room, and rub Balance on my hands and inhale, taking deep breaths.

I take what time I can get to breathe in Balance while going through my grounding strategies.

Need some more help?

Add Frankincense or Serenity to give the Balance an extra boost. Either put a few drops in your hands with Balance and take deep breaths. Or mix it up with some fractionated coconut oil in a roll-on bottle. As I mentioned before, adding a grounding or stress reducing strategy that works for you can remind you that you can keep going.

Making Balance apart of your daily routine can help you face stressful situations with greater ease and help keep you grounded when that ugly monster comes a-calling.

There are several options when applying Balance; you can put the oil on the bottoms of your feet, back of the neck or on your reflex points (nerve endings) in your hands and feet.

Anxiety happens to kids too

Balance is a great tool for kids too, I have a child that is easily overwhelmed. Putting Balance into his morning and bedtime routine has made such a difference for him. There is a dilution chart at the bottom of this post for the proper mixture.

More on Balance

Balance is safe for topical and aromatic use, for more details you are welcome to buy the book, The Essential Life or go to doterra.com.

This particular oil is safe for NEAT application, without dilution. On the other hand there are perks to diluting anyway.

The benefit to diluting is that you can make the oils last without diminishing the oils fragrance or properties as well as increasing topical oil distribution (doterra.com). Oils applied undiluted can evaporate too quickly before it is properly absorbed therefore you could potentially diminish the benefits. Just a tidbit for you I use this brand of carrier oil. It’s great because it comes with a pump and a squirt lid.

I am partial to putting my essential oil/carrier oil mixture in a roll-on bottle like this one or a spray bottle like this. Dilute with fractionated coconut oil, see dilution chart. Fractionated coconut oil is a great carrier oil it hydrates the skin, odorless, colorless and best of all doesn’t leave behind that greasy feeling because who likes that? Not this lady!

A word of caution

“Frequency trumps quantity” (The Essential Life, p.421) Why is this worth mentioning? Oils do not operate like drugs in the sense that increasing the dose increases the benefits. While oils can be fast acting in order to reap the full benefit of the oil you must use it regularly preferably in small doses.

Keep in mind that it is the frequency of your use in small doses that maximize your results not and I repeat NOT quantity. Increases the quantity over a period of time can actually have harmful side effects instead of helping. Remember too much of a good thing can have a turn for the worse.

If you have daily struggles with anxiety or depression, add Balance to your morning and evening routine, this can increase your ability to cope. Like I said, this isn’t a miracle nor will it take the problem away. Balance gives you a way to ground yourself so you are able to work through the problem better. Another point, if you feel like you can’t handle it all talk to someone, a friend or even your doctor. It’s okay to ask for help, you shouldn’t have to go through such a struggle on your own.

It’s okay to not be okay. You are not broken, sometimes it is just that hard.
